Well, it seems that I have learned most of the topics in the past year. So it is true, in the research-oriented part of CS academia, learning is really like study-exam-study cycles.
One good thing is to know even in the private industries such as Toyota, Yahoo and Google, the researchers are doing the same theoretical things. Well, all applications have to be originated from something theoretical anyway, and the theoretical advance can guarantee companies' IP. So this may be the major distinguish between up-stream industries and down-stream ones.
Another good thing is about the research talks. People from all around the world talked about their current research, and this part was really exciting. I heard about some brilliant ideas about new theories, as well as many interesting applications.
Again, I found some energy in this conference.
